Calculator inputs and shared results

Calculations run in your browser. We do not submit your entries to a MotoringCalcs database. Copying a result or result link is optional. A shared link contains the selected inputs, so anyone receiving it can see those figures. Some older share links put inputs in the URL query and may therefore appear in hosting request logs; new general-purpose links use a URL fragment. Avoid putting confidential figures in links you share.

Optional Google Analytics

The site does not download Google Analytics until you accept analytics. Accept and reject choices are available in the banner, and Analytics choices in the footer lets you change them. Rejecting does not prevent use of the tools. Your choice is stored locally in your browser so it can be remembered. If browser storage is unavailable, the choice may not persist.

After acceptance, Google Analytics processes usage information such as pages viewed, tool interactions, browser/device information and approximate location derived from IP address. We send the page path without calculator query parameters and do not send calculator input values as analytics events. Google Signals and advertising personalization features are disabled in our Analytics configuration. Withdrawing consent stops new analytics events and removes first-party Analytics cookies where the browser permits; it does not recall data already sent.

Advertising and consent

This release does not request Google ads. Ad serving is disabled while the updated site is prepared for review. The code provides a separated manual banner position for future use; it must be configured with a real ad unit and Auto ads disabled before activation. If advertising is enabled, Google and other advertising providers may use cookies or other identifiers to personalise and measure ads based on visits to this and other websites. They may process IP addresses, device information, web beacons and local storage. Advertising choices are separate from analytics choices.

A Google European regulations consent message is published for this site in AdSense. When advertising is active and the message applies, it provides choices about advertising data use; the advertising privacy control lets you revisit those choices. You can opt out of personalised Google advertising through My Ad Center and find other participating providers’ opt-out choices through YourAdChoices. Rejecting optional analytics does not itself set your advertising choices.

Hosting and security

Cloudflare hosts and protects the site. Delivering pages requires technical request data such as IP address, request URL, user agent and security events. These functions are separate from optional analytics. External reference links open third-party services under their own privacy practices.

Contact messages

If you email us, we receive your email address and message and use them to respond, investigate corrections and keep relevant correspondence. Send only the details needed for the enquiry. Calculator use does not require an account, name, email address or vehicle registration.

Retention and your rights

Provider settings govern retention of analytics, hosting and security records. We retain direct correspondence only for its operational purpose and applicable record-keeping obligations. Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing of personal information. Contact us to make a request or raise a concern. You can also contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.
