About MotoringCalcs UK
Practical calculators for the questions UK drivers ask before a journey, a tariff change or a car purchase.
What we are trying to make easier
MotoringCalcs UK was created to turn common motoring questions into transparent calculations. From estimating the real fuel cost of a commute to comparing EV charging tariffs and tyre dimensions, our goal is to provide fast, useful tools for UK drivers, with visible assumptions and explanations you can check.
We believe in real motoring maths and clear assumptions. Enter what you know, inspect the useful outputs and challenge the variables that matter most. Calculations run in your browser; you do not need an account. Optional analytics, advertising services and shared result links are explained in our Privacy Policy.
The site is UK-focused. Where appropriate, calculators use miles, imperial MPG, pence per litre, pounds sterling and pence per kWh. We avoid hiding the assumptions behind a black-box score: the important figures remain editable so you can rerun the calculation for your own vehicle and circumstances.
The calculator library also covers vehicle performance, power and torque conversions, gearing, engine displacement, tyres and wheel geometry. Exact unit conversions use defined relationships; performance and fitment tools identify assumptions and limitations rather than presenting estimates as engineering facts.
How calculator results are produced
The tools use straightforward mathematical relationships between the inputs shown on each page. Calculator functions run locally in your browser. We do not require you to create an account or send the figures you enter to a MotoringCalcs database in order to obtain a result.
Worked examples and guidance are provided to explain how to choose inputs and how to interpret a result. They are not promises about future costs. Real fuel economy, charging efficiency, electricity prices, insurance, depreciation and other ownership costs vary between drivers and over time.
Editorial and quality approach
We aim to keep units explicit, avoid mixing UK and US gallons, and make exclusions clear when a calculator covers only part of a cost. Where a tool is designed for scenario planning, we encourage visitors to test more than one assumption rather than rely on a single optimistic figure.
If you spot a calculation issue, unclear wording or an assumption that could be better explained, please tell us. Corrections and useful feature suggestions can be sent to contact@motoringcalcs.uk.
Who operates MotoringCalcs UK?
MotoringCalcs UK is operated by Airborne Media & Consultancy Ltd, a UK company. The site may be supported by advertising, including Google AdSense. Advertising relationships do not change the arithmetic used by the calculators.
Important limitation
MotoringCalcs provides general information and planning estimates. It is not a vehicle inspection service, financial adviser, tax adviser or energy broker. For a material purchase or contractual decision, verify current vehicle specifications, tariff terms, prices and any professional advice relevant to your circumstances.
Guides, references and feedback
The site now includes calculation-led guides and reference pages alongside the interactive tools. A guide is built around a specific question, states the relevant units or formula, includes a worked example or table where useful, and links back to the calculator for your own figures. We avoid presenting generic assumptions as vehicle-specific specifications.
Our Methodology & Accuracy page explains how exact conversions, user-supplied values and estimates are treated differently. The Reference page collects stable unit relationships used across the site. If you believe a formula, unit, example or result is wrong, the Contact Us page explains what to send so the issue can be reproduced.
