WHP to HP Calculator

Convert wheel horsepower to estimated crank horsepower using an adjustable drivetrain-loss assumption.

WHP to HP Calculator visual guide

Worked example

With 300 WHP and a 15% assumption, the calculator estimates about 353 HP at the crank, a difference of roughly 53 HP.

Why drivetrain-loss percentages vary

Tyres, gearbox type, oil temperature, differential design, dyno method and test conditions all affect measured wheel power. Treat preset percentages as scenario values, not engineering constants.

Use the result as a comparison

The most defensible dyno comparisons are normally repeat tests on the same dyno under similar conditions. This tool is useful when translating between published crank figures and wheel figures for discussion or rough comparison.
