EV Charging Cost Calculator

Calculate electric-car charging cost from battery size, start and target charge, electricity price and charging efficiency.

Worked example

Charging a 60 kWh battery from 20% to 80% adds 36 kWh to the battery. At 90% efficiency, about 40 kWh is drawn from the grid.

Frequently asked questions

Why include charging efficiency?

Some electricity is lost as heat and through charging electronics, so grid energy can exceed battery energy added.

Can I enter an off-peak tariff?

Yes. Use the p/kWh rate you expect to pay during the charging session.
